New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the National Capital breathed his last here on August 24, after a long battle with illness.

Admitted on August 9 in Delhi's AIIMS, his health once again deteriorated on August 16, following which he was put on life support.

Under the leadership of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi governments, the prominent leader, held several important portfolios, including Finance, Commerce and Industry, Defence, Corporate Affairs and Law and Justice.
