New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- The Union government has big plans on spending for the cause of development, said Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in Nagpur.

The Union Minister further added that his ministry has planned to spend five lakh crore rupees on infrastructure development in 2020. Reiterating the same, he said, "During the last five years, I have awarded contracts worth Rs 17 lakh crore. This year my plan is to spend five lakh crore rupees on infrastructure development."
