Kathmandu, Oct. 22 -- From the suffering of breeding dogs in puppy mills, or the abandonment and neglect of street dogs, or the cruelty that is often inflicted upon these innocent animals, we come across stories of animal abuse almost every day.

The are stories of not just beloved pets but also of wildlife such as elephants, rhinoceros and tigers, and those in captivity like zoos and 'rescue centres'. Most of these do not have a happy ending.

A year ago, four students from Kathmandu University School of Law worked on research papers with a grant from the Center for Animal Law Studies at Lewis and Clark Law School as part of the Global Ambassador Program to help raise awareness about animal law in Nepal.
