New Delhi, July 24 -- Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71, WWE confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

"WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans," the statement read.

According to TMZ Sports, emergency medical services were dispatched to Hogan's residence in Clearwater, Florida, early Thursday morning following a cardiac arrest call.
