New Delhi, Nov. 6 -- The ongoing government shutdown is having a serious impact on air travel in the United States. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced in a press conference that there will be a 10% reduction in flights at 40 major airports across the country, USA Today reported. This change will take place at the end of this week.
"I think it's going to lead to more cancellations, but we are going to work with the airlines to do this in a systematic way," the Transportation Secretary said in response to a question. "This is data-based," he added. "This is not based on what airline travel has more flights out of what location. This is about where is the pressure and how do we alleviate the pressure," he added, per USA Today.
