New Delhi, Jan. 1 -- South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor's Indian arm on 1 January announced that Tarun Garg is taking charge as the first Indian Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company.
In a BSE filing, Hyundai Motor India said that this is the first time in 29 years that the automaker has appointed an Indian national as the head of its country operations, in an effort to lead the second phase of growth in India.
"Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) today announced that Mr Tarun Garg has officially assumed charge as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), effective 1 January 2026," the company said in a press release.
