New Delhi, May 7 -- India captain Rohit Sharma had already retired from the T20I format. On Wednesday, May 7, the prominent cricketer announced his retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect.

Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to share the update, and thanked fans for showering their love and support.

"Hello everyone, I would just like to share, I am retiring from Test cricket. It's been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in ODI format," Rohit Sharma's retirement note read.
