New Delhi, May 19 -- The India Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra on Monday (May 19). Earlier, the weather department had said, "Heavy to very heavy Rainfall is likely over the west coast (Karnataka, Konkan & Goa and Kerala) and adjoining Peninsular India during 18th-24th May,2025."

IMD scientist Sushma Nair said Maharashtra is currently witnessing a pre-monsoon spell. "There is a line of wind discontinuity and this trough induces thunderstorms which is normal for the pre-monsoon season...," she said.
