New Delhi, Dec. 19 -- Wall Street key indices surged on Friday as technology stocks with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) extended gains.

As of 10:05 a.m. Eastern Time, the S&P 500 jumped 0.8%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite surged 1%.

At the open, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 87.38 points, or 0.21%, to ⁠48,051.77. The S&P 500 ⁠rose 20.66 points, ‌or 0.33%, to 6,795.42, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 105.27 points, or 0.51%, ⁠to 23,111.63.

Shares of Nvidia jumped 3.4% and Broadcom rose 2.4%.
