New Delhi, March 10 -- US stock indices slumped on Monday with tech-heavy Nasdaq falling nearly 4% after President Donald Trump's comments over the weekend stoked fears that a trade war could spark an economic recession.

At 12:12 p.m. the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 480.31 points, or 1.12%, to 42,321.41, the S&P 500 lost 122.83 points, or 2.13%, to 5,647.37, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 623.75 points, or 3.43%, to 17,572.47.

At 11:05 a.m. ET the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 323.95 points, or 0.76%, to 42,477.77, the S&P 500 lost 114.16 points, or 1.99%, to 5,656.04, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 665.79 points, or 3.66%, to 17,530.43.
