New Delhi, Dec. 29 -- The major stock indices on Wall Street opened lower on Monday, led by technology shares after last week's gains.

At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 74.3 points, or 0.15%, to 48,636.63. The S&P 500 fell 26.3 points, or 0.38%, to 6,903.6​, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 178.4 points, or 0.76%, to 23,414.679.

With just three trading days left in 2025, the S&P 500 is up more than 17% for the year so far.

In the bond market, Treasury yields fell.
