Uttar Pradesh, April 10 -- An army soldier who had come home on leave to testify in a murder case was allegedly shot dead in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, April 10.

The deceased has been identified as Vikrant Gurjar. Twenty-seven-year-old Gurjar is a resident of Mudikhedi village in Saharanpur in Western Uttar Pradesh. He was posted in Jammu and Kashmir.

Gurjar came home on Tuesday, April 8, on a four-day leave to testify in a murder case, officials were quoted as saying in a report by news agency PTI. Gurjar was allegedly killed between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
