New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- Indian markets ended slightly lower on 8 October, with both Nifty 50 and Sensex snapping their four-day winning streak amid persistent volatility. Nifty closed at 25,046, down 0.25%, while Sensex settled at 81,774, declining 0.19%. Sectoral trends were mixed. Nifty IT (+1.5%) and Consumer Durables (+0.7%) outperformed, led by gains in Titan, Infosys, and TCS. On the other hand, Realty, Telecom, Pharma, Media, Energy, and Auto came under pressure, shedding up to 2%.
Broader indices mirrored weakness, with Midcap and Smallcap indices falling 0.7% and 0.4%, respectively. On the macro front, steady domestic demand and robust consumption continue to offset external headwinds, such as recent U.S. tariffs on Indian exports....
