New Delhi, Dec. 9 -- When it comes to kidney health, most people think about cutting back on certain foods - such as less salt, less packaged food, and less sugar. But what you add to your plate matters just as much, according to the National Kidney Foundation. Your kidneys work continuously to filter waste and regulate fluid balance. Some foods, especially certain fruits, bring the kind of antioxidants, fiber and minerals that give these organs a real advantage.

"A study looked at data from over 98,000 participants and found that eating more fruit was associated with a 6% to 8% lower risk of developing kidney disease," said Dietitian Jen Hernandez.
