SIR in Bengal, Dec. 29 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI), in a fresh set of instructions. has asked district election officials (DEOs) in West Bengal to not summon for hearings those voters identified as 'unmapped', or not found in the 2002 electoral roll.

The pause applies only to voters flagged as not found by the EC's central software but were found present on the hard copies of the 2002 rolls.

The instructions comes came amid a volley of criticism against the poll body in the poll-bound West Bengal over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral roll.
