Silver rate today, Jan. 5 -- Precious metals saw a steep rally as the news of US bombing in Venezuela and Donald Trump's subsequent arrest of President Nicolas Maduro caught up with the markets, driving gold and silver prices through the roof. Silver price today in India skyrocketed in line with the global markets. The MCX silver futures jumped over 3%, or around Rs.13,500, to trade at Rs.2,49,900 per kg on Monday, 5 January.

In global markets, spot silver advanced jumped to an intraday high of $75.968 per ounce, pegging nearly a 6% gain from the previous close.
