Silver price today, Dec. 12 -- After languishing for most of the session on Friday, December 12, a sharp spurt was visible in silver prices on the MCX, which drove the commodity past the Rs.2,00,000 mark for the first time.

MCX gold also scaled a fresh peak of over Rs.1,34,500 per 10 grams in the afternoon session on Friday.

MCX Silver futures touched a record peak of Rs.2,00,362 per kilogram in afternoon trade, rising 0.71%, or Rs.1,420, from its last closing price. Around 4:20 pm, MCX silver March futures traded at Rs.2,00,210, up 0.64%.

Meanwhile, MCX gold February futures hit a record high of Rs.1,34,512 per 10 grams, jumping by Rs.2,043, or 1.5%, over its previous close.
