New Delhi, Feb. 19 -- The Indian stock market saw a sharp intraday selloff on Thursday, February 19, as investors booked profits across sectors after recent gains.

The Sensex crashed over 850 points, while the Nifty 50 dropped to an intraday low of 25,567.75 during the session.

The broad-based selloff impacted second-rung mid- and small-cap indices, as the BSE mid- and small-cap indices also dropped by more than half a per cent each.

Investors lost about Rs.4 lakh crore as the overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms dropped to nearly Rs.468 lakh crore during the day from Rs.472 lakh crore in the previous session.
