New Delhi, April 1 -- The Indian stock market traded volatile in the morning trade on Tuesday, April 1, amid heightened uncertainty over the US administration's impending reciprocal tariffs. The Sensex plunged nearly 1,200 points in intraday trade.

The index opened at 76,882.58 against its previous close of 77,414.92 and dropped 1,200 points to the level of 76,218.75. Around 11:30 AM, the index was 1,078 points, or 1.39 per cent, down at 76,337. The Nifty 50 was 271 points, or 1.15 per cent, down at 23,249.
