Stock market today, April 1 -- The Indian stock market traded volatile in the morning trade on Tuesday, April 1, amid heightened uncertainty over the US administration's impending reciprocal tariffs. The Sensex plunged 1000 points on the BSE in early trade but pared losses soon.

The index opened at 76,882.58 against its previous close of 77,414.92 and dropped 1,000 points to the level of 76,415.69. Around 10:35 AM, the index was 981 points, or 1.27 per cent, at 76,434. The Nifty 50 was 7230 points, or 0.98 per cent down at 23,289.
