New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- The Sensex and the Nifty 50, benchmarks of the Indian stock market, closed in the red for the third consecutive session on Friday, August 29, as concerns over Trump's tariffs and its economic fallout continued weighing on market sentiment.

The Sensex closed 271 points, or 0.34 per cent, down at 79,809.65, while the Nifty 50 settled at 24,426.85, down 74 points, or 0.30 per cent. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices lost 0.41 per cent and 0.29 per cent, respectively.
