New Delhi, July 9 -- A scheduled court hearing to determine whether Sean 'Diddy' Combs would receive an expedited sentencing date was unexpectedly adjourned on Tuesday, with no arguments presented and no new date set.

The abrupt postponement leaves Combs' legal team and the public awaiting further direction from the court.

Combs, who was recently convicted on two prostitution-related charges following a split verdict, had initially been set for sentencing on September 22.

However, in a joint letter submitted shortly before the hearing, both federal prosecutors and Combs' defence attorneys agreed instead to proceed with Judge Arun Subramanian's original proposed date of October 3.
