New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Punjab has announced closure of all schools till September 3, whereas Jammu has decided to shut them on Monday, September 1. This comes amid heavy rains causing widespread devastation.

Earlier, Bhagwant Mann government announced holidays for all schools from August 27 to 30. Schools in the Jammu region remained closed throughout the week as a precaution, following weather advisories.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains stated, "In accordance with the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, keeping in view the flood situation in Punjab, holidays have been declared in all government/aided/recognised and private schools in the state until September 3, 2025."
