New Delhi, April 8 -- The recent sharp fluctuations of the rupee against the US dollar, amidst ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, are projected to affect the earnings of certain sectors by as much as 250 basis points (bps) in fiscal 2026, according to a report from Crisil Ratings.

The rating agency firm clarified that, the rupee fluctuated from Rs.83.81 per dollar on October 1, 2024, to Rs.87.40 on February 28, 2025, before recovering to Rs.85.65 on April 3, 2025. This comes after an annual depreciation of the rupee by 1-2% over the previous two years leading up to September 2024.
