New Delhi, Jan. 13 -- Minnesota and its two largest cities reportedly sued the Trump administration to try to stop an immigration enforcement surge that led to the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by a federal officer and evoked outrage and protests across the country.

A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent had shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good on the streets of Minneapolis on January 7, leading to huge protests and outrage from local leaders who rejected White House claims she was a domestic terrorist.

The state, joined by Minneapolis and St Paul, on Monday said the Department of Homeland Security is violating the First Amendment and other constitutional protections, the Associated Press reported.
