New Delhi, Dec. 19 -- Parliament passed the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill on Thursday. The bill seeks to replace the 20-year-old MGNREGA and guarantee 125 days of rural wage employment every year.
The Rajya Sabha approved the legislation after it received the Lok Sabha's nod amid protests by the Opposition. Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asserted that the Bill was needed to fix shortcomings in the old scheme.
