New Delhi, Nov. 19 -- As many as 272 eminent citizens, including several retired judges, bureaucrats, and armed forces officers, wrote an open letter on Tuesday, condemning Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, over his alleged attempts to tarnish constitutional bodies like the Election Commission of India.

Opposition parties led by Congress MP Rahul have been accusing the Election Commission of colluding with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to "steal" votes in several states and using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to do so.

While the letter didn't mention him by name, it directly named the Congress and other political parties.
