New Delhi, Feb. 19 -- Flight operations at Newark Liberty International Airport were "temporarily suspended" on Wednesday after smoke in the cockpit of a JetBlue flight triggered an emergency landing.

According to a USA Today report, citing officials, the JetBlue flight to West Palm Beach, Florida, had to immediately return to Newark after it took off at around 5:55 p.m. local time.

"The crew of the Airbus A320 reported smoke in the cockpit," according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft via slides, officials told USA Today. No injuries have been reported.
