Myanmar earthquake, March 30 -- The Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar has suffered a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake. The Friday's quake, one of the strongest to hit Myanmar in a century, has damaged infrastructure including bridges, highways, airports and railways - hampering rescue efforts. Several families have lost members as toll continues to increase amid ongoing search and rescue operations. India has also joined locals to help victims by sending relief materials, rescue teams and medical equipment in five military aircraft.
The initial 7.7 magnitude quake struck near the central Myanmar city of Mandalay early on Friday afternoon, followed by a 6.7 magnitude aftershock minutes later.
