New Delhi, May 16 -- New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir is negotiating for a stake and revenue share in the 1,856 MW Sawalkot hydroelectric project on the Chenab river, currently with state-run NHPC Ltd, as it seeks to secure a direct income stream, according to three people familiar with the matter.
NHPC estimates the project will require an investment of Rs.22,700 crore, with the state-run major having already spent Rs.973 crore on a detailed project report (DPR).
The project is expected to generate an annual revenue of approximately Rs.4,024 crore at a projected tariff of Rs.5.5 per unit and a plant load factor of around 45%, according to industry estimates.
