New Delhi, Dec. 13 -- Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh has criticised the functioning of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying he was not being consulted by the party, unlike the Congress.

Singh, a BJP leader, said it was easier to meet the Congress high command than the top leadership of the BJP. Congress, he said, used to consult its leaders and had "a more democratic system".

The former chief minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he had "special affection for Punjab" and "would do anything for the state". He added that while he had communicated his commitment to the BJP to the Prime Minister, he did not personally know many national BJP leaders.
