New Delhi, Jan. 22 -- The Internal Revenue Service or the IRS has made a special announcement that is drawing taxpayers' attention as the year begins with a host of significant shifts in federal policy, tax rules, and cost-of-living adjustments. The IRS in an announcement said that nearly one million taxpayers will get benefits of a special, one-time payment, which will allow them to keep the entire amount without being burdened by any federal liability.

While this payment was issued in the end of 2025 itself, its confirmation by the IRS as well as the treatment has seen one million taxpayers reshaping their household finances in 2026 and is also helping citizens plan their budgets in the coming months.
