GST reforms, Aug. 15 -- The Ministry of Finance on Friday, 15 August, said the proposed goods and services tax (GST) reforms will focus on three key aspects to ease the tax burden on people.

In a social media post on platform X, the ministry explained Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day 2025 announcement, stating that the proposed GST reforms will be based on three pillars - structural reforms, rate rationalisation, and ease of living.

The government has sent its proposal to the GST Council-appointed Group of Ministers (GoM) for further examination. The committee, in its next meeting, will discuss the recommendations from the Centre and make efforts for an "early implementation".
