New Delhi, Feb. 10 -- United States President Donald Trump's top economic adviser, Kevin Hassett, said that India's import tariffs are "enormously high" amid the trade war raging between America and other countries, reported the news portal CNBC-TV-18 on Monday, February 10.

Speaking in an interview with CNBC, Hassett stressed that these tariffs are a major issue that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have to address during his upcoming visit to Washington.

Hassett also emphasised that Trump's trade policy is focused on imposing tariffs that are at least equivalent to those levied by other nations.

"If they go down, we'll go down," he said, adding, "Almost every trading partner has much higher tariffs than we do."
