New Delhi, March 11 -- Mumbai sweltered under a severe heatwave on Monday, with temperatures soaring to 37.2degC, nearly five degrees above the seasonal norm. Data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) showed that the Santacruz weather station recorded 37.2degC, exceeding the usual range by 4.8degC, while the Colaba observatory logged 36.4degC, a deviation of 5.3degC above the typical average.

Minimum temperatures also spiked, with Colaba registering 23.7degC and Santacruz recording 21.6degC early in the morning, adding to the discomfort.
