New Delhi, Sept. 7 -- Following the reduction in GST rates, Hyundai and Tata Motors have announced to cut the rates on their cars. The news comes shortly after other automakers like Mahindra & Mahindra and Renault also announced a drop in their four wheeler vehicles to pass on the benefits of the GST rate cut to customers.
The decision of 56th GST Council which takes effect from 22 September, states that the GST on small cars will be levied at 18% (down from 28% earlier) while SUVs will be taxed under the 40% slab witout any cess and electric cars will continue to be under 5% slab.
