New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Gas prices in Southern California increased ahead of the Labor Day holiday, leading to more expenses for travelers in one of the busier travel periods of the year. The Auto Club of Southern California, in a statement on August 28, said that gas prices jumped by 10 cents or more across most of the region during the last week.

This was the second time this year that the area has recorded increases of such magnitude. Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe said in a release that this was the first time in 2025 that pump prices were higher in some Southern California areas than they were on the same date last year.
