New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- Multiple people were injured on Monday morning following a reported explosion at the US Steel Clairton plant, in Pennsylvania, authorities said, multiple reports stated.
The incident was reported shortly before 11 a.m., prompting a large emergency response. First responders arrived at the facility to treat the injured and secure the area.
The Allegheny County Health Department said it has deployed crews to monitor air quality in the surrounding area. Details on the number of injured and the extent of their injuries have not yet been released.
An investigation is underway.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said his administration is coordinating with local officials following the explosion.
