New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- European Union Chief Ursula von der Leyen held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday 4 September, on the ongoing Ukraine conflict and future bilateral cooperation.

Emphasising that the Ukraine war poses grave risks to global security and economic stability, the EU leader "welcomed" India's engagement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The talks between PM Modi and EU Chief also focused on accelerating negotiations for a long-pending Free Trade Agreement (FTA), with both sides aiming to conclude the deal by the end of the year and set a joint strategic agenda at the next EU-India summit, expected in early 2026.
