Earthquake today, Sept. 5 -- Another 4.1 magnitude quake has jolted Afghanistan, days after deadly tremors hit the eastern region, killing over 2,000 and injuring more than 3,000. At least two more earthquakes had hit Afghanistan earlier on Thursday.
"EQ of M: 4.9, On: 05/09/2025 03:16:43 IST, Lat: 34.57 N, Long: 70.42 E, Depth: 120 Km, Location: Afghanistan," the National Center for Seismology said on X.
The latest earthquake came after two earthquakes of magnitudes 5.8 and 4.1 struck the region in the late hours of Thursday, as per the NCS.
The NCS reported that the first earthquake, measuring 5.8, struck at 10:26 PM on Thursday, followed by a second tremor of 4.1 magnitude at 11:58 PM the same night.
