New Delhi, Feb. 8 -- As predicted in pre-poll analyses and reflected in its performance in the 2024 general elections in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in the national capital. Counting data from the Election Commission of India (ECI) at 6pm, with 99.4% of votes counted and final results declared for 65 seats, confirmed the BJP's victory.
Delhi's 70 Assembly constituencies had voted on 5 February, with results tallied today.
With this win, the BJP has ended the decade-long rule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and won a state election in Delhi after a gap of 32 years. Securing this small yet strategically and symbolically significant state solidifies the BJP's political dominance.
