New Delhi, Dec. 10 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a cold wave alert for 10 December for 7 states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

IMD in a post on X stated, "Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana, Vidarbha & West MP may see severe cold till Dec 10. Stay warm, stay indoors when possible, and look out for kids, elders & those in need." The prevailing weather conditions indicate the presence of a trough in easterlies lying near southwest Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric level that is located along longitude 83 degE.
