New Delhi, Jan. 2 -- Maharatna PSU Coal India shares jumped more than 6% during the stock market session on Friday, 2 January 2026, after the company disclosed that the board has permitted importers from countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal to directly participate in auctions, according to an exchange filing.
"Effective 1 January 2026, Coal India Limited (CIL) has permitted coal consumers located in the neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, who wish to import coal from India, to directly participate in the Single Window Mode Agnostic (SWMA) auctions conducted by the company," Coal India informed the stock exchanges through its filing on Friday.
