New Delhi, May 2 -- Concerned over the rampant misuse of Nimesulide drug used to treat pain and fever, the government has asked the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to conduct an extensive review of the prescription medicine and its effects on adults.
Nimesulide is classified as a Schedule H drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. Drugs listed under Schedule H are prescription drugs, which means they can only be sold by retail on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner.
