New Delhi, Sept. 24 -- The bypolls to the four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu & Kashmir will be held on October 24, the Election Commission announced on Wednesday. The voting and counting will be held on the same day, the poll panel said.

The bypoll to one Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab will also be held on October 24, according to the schedule released by the poll panel. The seat in Punjab was vacant after the resignation of Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjeev Arora in July. Arora is now a minister in the Punjab government.

For the four Upper House seats from Jammu and Kashmir, the notification will be announced on October 6. The last date for filing the nomination would be October 13 while the nominations can be withdrawn by October 16.
