Blood Moon 2025, Sept. 6 -- Skywatchers across Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia are in for a celestial treat this month, as a total lunar eclipse, also known as a blood moon, will light up the night sky on September 7-8, 2025.

According to Time and Date, nearly 77% of the world's population will be able to witness the eclipse, which occurs when Earth's shadow completely covers the Moon, giving it a deep red or orange glow.

The lunar eclipse will reach its maximum phase at 5:11 pm EDT (9:11 pm GMT) on September 7. The total phase, when the Moon is fully immersed in Earth's shadow, will last for about 82 minutes, as reported by Space.com.
