New Delhi, April 20 -- Former Inspector General (IG) and Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka, Om Prakash, was found dead in his Bengaluru residence in the HSR layout area on Sunday, media reports said.

Cops said that preliminary investigation suggests that the former cop was murdered by his wife Pallavi, who the reports said is now in police custody. Bengaluru Police also found several stab wounds on the retired cop's body.

The 68-year-old IPS officer from the 1981 batch, hailed from Champaran, Bihar and had an MSc in Geology. He was appointed as the DGP of Karnataka on March 1, 2015.
