New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- AI pioneer and Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio has warned that hyperintelligent machines could emerge within the next 10 years. Bengio, who is regarded as one of the 'godfathers of AI,' says that the risk emanates from AI models developing their own preservation goals, which could lead it to use deception or other means to ensure its own survival, similar to the plot of the famous movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
