New Delhi, July 15 -- Mumbai/New Delhi: After sparking outrage in India for showcasing Kolhapuri-style "sandals" on the Milan runway, Italian luxury giant Prada has sent top executives to the footwear's hometown of Kolhapur. The two-day visit, which began Tuesday, marks the brand's first formal outreach to Indian artisans.

In response to Mint's queries, Prada confirmed that the visiting team includes Andrea Boscaro, Director of Collection Development for Prada and Miu Miu - Footwear; Paolo Tiveron, Director of Men's Technical and Production Department - Footwear Division; and Daniele Contu, Pattern Making Manager - Footwear Division. They are accompanied by external consultants Andrea Pollastrelli and Roberto Pollastrelli.
