New Delhi, March 30 -- The Union minister Amit Shah-led Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday informed that the stringent AFSPA had been extended to entire state of Manipur, except 13 police station areas.

Further, AFSPA has also been extended in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts in Arunachal Pradesh, and 3 police station areas bordering Assam for 6 months.

The violence-stricken northeastern state of Manipur had been placed under Presidential rule on February 13, 2025, following the resignation of Chief Minister and BJP leader N Biren Singh.

AFSPA was first imposed in Manipur in 1958, specifically in the Naga-dominated districts of Senapati, Tamenglong, and Ukhrul, in response to Naga insurgencies.
